Research is still in progress.
A rotomolded cooler can end the search inside its size and use Form when hinges, latches, gasket, drain, and warranty support are verified.
What we were looking for
A portable, hard-sided cooler in the roughly 40–50 quart class for ordinary field use, with a durable body and serviceable interfaces.
Why the decision is still open
The Tundra 45 has a stable model identity, rotomolded body, insulation, gasket, hinges, latches, drain hardware, replacement latch parts, and a five-year warranty. The counter-case must compare RTIC and Pelican on service, performance, weight, and economics.
What prevents a clear pick
- Unserviceable latches, unavailable gasket or drain parts, shell failure treated as repairable, and a size or use case outside the bounded Form.
What a qualifying product must do
- Verify the exact product identifier, performance evidence, parts path, warranty scope, and comparison with serious counter-cases.
What can go wrong
- Latch or hinge failure, gasket compression, drain damage, insulation loss, shell cracking, and overloading.

What has been examined so far
We separate source material from our interpretation. A source page can establish model identity; it does not, by itself, prove that a product deserves the pick.
