Research in progress
Research is still in progress.
The inherited pocket-knife declaration cannot answer two incompatible carrying and use Forms at once.
What we were looking for
The parent pocket-knife label must separate a traditional utility folder from a modern pocket-compatible everyday knife before one product can be declared.
Why the decision is still open
The Buck 110, Opinel No. 08, and Spyderco Delica represent materially different carry, weight, opening, locking, and service assumptions. The apparent failure is a category boundary, not proof that every pocket knife is empty.
What prevents a clear pick
- One universal answer that hides carry law, pocket compatibility, intended use, or materially different service and safety assumptions.
What a qualifying product must do
- Create child Forms, define use and carrying jurisdiction, then adjudicate one exact model within each child without publishing co-declarations.
What can go wrong
- Category mismatch, unsafe or unlawful carry, blade wear, pivot or lock failure, and unavailable parts.

What has been examined so far
We separate source material from our interpretation. A source page can establish model identity; it does not, by itself, prove that a product deserves the pick.
