Research is still in progress.
A repairable smartphone child Form may earn a declaration without pretending to be the ideal for every smartphone user.
What we were looking for
A parent smartphone category must separate a repairable, long-support Android Form from sealed mainstream phones and other operating-system or market Forms.
Why the decision is still open
Fairphone offers a declaration path through replaceable modules, a removable battery, parts access, and long support, but the broad smartphone category also contains performance, camera, network, and regional constraints that require explicit scope.
What prevents a clear pick
- Sealed battery and display, short security support, proprietary lockout, unavailable modules, regional incompatibility, and a broad claim that ignores the user's actual Form.
What a qualifying product must do
- Define the child Form, exact generation and region, support horizon, module availability, performance boundary, and independent longevity evidence.
What can go wrong
- Battery wear, display or port damage, discontinued modules, software support lapse, and regional network incompatibility.

What has been examined so far
We separate source material from our interpretation. A source page can establish model identity; it does not, by itself, prove that a product deserves the pick.
